Aviation and the climate crisis

10th July 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

One intercontinental flight can produce up to 1.6 tons of CO2, with a trans-Atlantic trip emitting up to 3 tons. There is no doubt that flying less is a vital part of our action on climate change.

Bristol was the first council to declare a climate emergency, yet alsosupports Bristol airport expansion. Expanding aviation is not compatible with meeting carbon reduction targets.

So, is there anything we can do about it?

We will hear from speakers exploring the issues, including what difference individuals can make, what action the government needs to take, and if there is an answer to the coming climate crisis.
